The Main Races The Halford Special first raced in the 1925 BARC race at Brooklands with Halford's 95hp engine but suffered from overheating. In 1926 the Halford Special, now with a larger radiator and Halford's 120hp engine, competed in the first British Grand Prix held at Brooklands. Unfortunately Halford's Special suffered a prop-shaft universal joint failure and had to retire after 82 laps, this was enough however to secure him fifth position as only three cars managed to complete the race! Frank Halford sold his Halford Special in 1927 to Captain G. E. T. Eyston who raced it many times and notably came forth with the car in the 1927 French Grand Prix. |
